Would it be worth while to invest in a set of over tire tracks for the skid steer or will I need an actual tracked machine to get the job done.
Over the tire tracks are such a hassle. I had them on an LS170 i was using. The paddles that keep them on the tires kept popping the tires off the rims and then taking the tracks on/off was a 45 minute project each time. The rubber pads are held on by two 1 and a half inch bolt which isnt sturdy whatsoever. They would always fall off.

The VTS system will have much more traction on slippery surfaces then any tracks over tires will. The VTS system applies more even weight distribution. With the Track over tires the tracks between the tires have no weight pushing them down on the ground so that part of the track is not as useful as the parts that are under the tires. I just got off the phone with Loegering, inquiring about this very topic. Track kits, NOT the over the tire tracks, start at ,600 for mid-sized skid steers, and go up to ,600 or so for the big Gehl 7810. so for larger Cats and such they must be a tad lower in price.
